18 Kids and Counting, also known as 18 Children and Counting and formerly 17 Kids and Counting, is a reality television show produced in the United States by Figure 8 Films about the Duggar family, consisting of parents Jim Bob and Michelle and their 18 children; eight girls and ten boys, all having names starting with the letter “J”. The childrens’ names are Joshua, Jana and John-David (twins), Jill, Jessa, Jinger, Joseph, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah and Jeremiah (twins), Jason, James, Justin, Jackson, Johannah, Jennifer and new baby Jordyn-Grace.
The show airs on TLC, which helped the Duggar family build the large house in which they now live.
Season two premiered on Sunday, January 25, 2009 and was followed by the hour long A Very Duggar Wedding with two more new episodes aired back to back on January 27. Starting on February 24, 2009, the show’s name has been changed to 18 Kids and Counting.
The family (who lives in Tontitown, Arkansas) previously appeared in several TLC and Discovery Health Channel one-hour specials, most of which focused on Michelle’s last four births.
I have to say I think these people are crazy. Surely they are very patient parents to have a family this large, but come on, 18? One has to wonder if this is done for the attention. How does one support a family so large? Probably they rely on contributions from others, such as manufacturers of personal healthcare items, house payments, groceries, etc. I am a mother of two, live in a very modest home of 1000 square feet, my husband has a good paying job (though I am unable to work) and just the two kids can often times be difficult to financially handle. We don’t get any help from anyone and even though we have health insurance, we are drowning in medical bills, prescription drugs (I have to take 9 every day), etc. We live a very modest, clean life without a lot of luxuries, but absolutely have to buy groceries before paying bills cause otherwise if we pay bills first we are disinclined to leave enough to pay for food. We go to church every Sunday, sometimes more. I’ll bet when these people go anywhere they get a lot of attention from others and that’s why I think they continue to reproduce. This woman’s uterus must be ready to fall out. I think their doctor needs to talk to them about birth control, sure he/she is not very approving of the continual pregnancies cause it just cannot be healthy. I suppose to each his own and it’s not my place to judge these people. Maybe they should talk to Jon and Kate about having a good marriage. I must say they have to be doing something right.
i absolutly love your show you guys are great i do have 1 question out of curiousity. i notice your children are very well behaved at least from what we see of them what are you disciplining techiques?
My daughter and I were wondering what Mr. Dugger does for a living. Your family never seems to stress or strain to make ends meet. Can you share your financial plan. What would you suggest a single (separated) mother of a five do to secure the future of her children. She is a hard working women but never seems to have enough to go around. Thank you for any help you can give………
Well I am really not sure if I should be writing to you with out asking my parents bu I just have too. You guys are and inperantion! I love the fact that you guys talk about Gid and you guys pray on t.v. I mean most peole would say that is so lame and you guys are a family that love God and it shows!!!

Hi, My name is jennifer and I live in Indiana. I am a big fan of your show. I found your recipe for laundy soap and my husband and I made it today but i do have a question about it. After it has sat overnight do you split it up into containers immediately or do you just fill up one container and let the mixture sit in the 5 gallon bucket until you need more?

hi my name is allie. me and my twin sister love your show. every morning before school we watch ur show on tlc from seven to seven ten. we record the rest of it and watch it later. i watched ur show so many times i remembered ur kids names by heart! ok ready! josh jana john david jill jessa jinger joseph josiah joy anna jeddidiah jerimiah jason james justin jackson johannah jennifer and jordan!! i dont know if u had ur 19th baby yet. i saw the advirtisements places but i didnt know. having 18 kids and more sounds like alot of fun but alot of work to. since you are famous u get invited to do fun thigs like march in the dolley parade and feed the animals at the local zoo. ur house is so bigg to! i would be so happy if i ever got to own a house that big someday! u guies should get horses! u have the great yard for some!. i loved that episode wen u made a waterslide in ur back yard.do u have any pets? y dont the camera men ever show them if so? tell josh and anna their baby girl is adorible!!! and congrats to ur 19th baby. good luck. im hoping ull make it up to twenty kids! thats gunna b amazing!. byee!!!!!!!!! thx. hope u respond pleaseeeeeeeee.
